Notting Hill Sunday
Ladurée
Saturday brunch after visiting the Pradasphere exhibition. This meal was way to indulging, it was sinful! Haven’t had the pain perdu in such a long time, along with the Chantilly cream. Brought back good memories of the afternoons we spent here in first year. Oh and the milk shake is raspberry-rose…pure bliss.
It’s a pier life
181 Piccadilly
Walking though the Food Hall of Fortnum and Mason’s, takes you on a trip through every child’s imagination- brightly coloured sweets, biscuits of every flavour and candied chocolates- everywhere! Definitely a place you wouldn’t mind getting lost in! This quintessentially British department store has been around for three centuries and survived both world wars. Famous for their luxurious picnic baskets and loose teas, Fortnum’s does everything to perfection. I know I could spend the whole day admiring the intricate designs of every package, unique to the product it carries. Instead, I was dragged to their Fountain Restaurant for Sunday brunch. Savored their egg’s royale, accompanied with good company and still had space for lunch.
Second row of pictures are of their window display. Stunning, don’t you think?

Saturday Art
Pictures from the Body & Language exhibition at Saatchi Gallery. Last came to Saatchi back in October with some friends to check out their ‘Paper’ exhibition. This the rooms were adorned with works of modern British artists, both sculptures and paintings. The gallery has added a new gift shop on the 1st floor (image above), more variety when shopping for presents !
Markets
And so my sunny Saturday afternoon adventure continues- to the Duke of York Square market on King’s Road. It’s been a while since my last visit, I used to go religiously every Saturday last year for some Biskies. I remember when I first had a biskie- a cross breed between a macaroon and a biscuit, I just had to try one in every flavour! One Saturday, last March, when I was queueing to buy my weekly dose of heaven, I overheard a fellow market goer exchange numbers with the Biskie owner. Turns out he works for Selfridges and was interested in bringing Biskies to their food hall. And as they say, hard work comes a long way- just a couple of weeks ago on my last indulgent trip to Selfridges’ Food Hall, there it was- biskies! It was so surreal. I felt I played a silent part in their success.
Back to the market. I really like how the shadows and natural light in my pictures, it really does set the scene! Yes, I’m still an amateur. Can’t wait to compare my future photographs with these!
Sunny Saturday
London’s bipolar never fails to surprise. Blue skies decided to treat London’s weekenders and finally was able to use my camera outdoors for the first time! Still a bit rusty with figuring out the settings but I hope these pictures are not set to disappoint. These pictures may be slightly deceiving, it is indeed not summer and the weather is getting much colder. Looking forward to a Frosty February.
These were taken in the lovely South Kensington, on my afternoon walk to the market (next post!).
Friday Late- Sound It Out
I’ve been to a couple of Lates at the V&A since my first year in London. Last night’s theme was ‘sound it out’ and the museum was filled with various installations by musicians and artists. It felt more like an alternative East London night club, swarmed by the entire hipster community of London. I’m sure most people came for the cheap thrill to get drunk at the V&A and smoke up in the gardens, which I think is rather disrespectful. I did feel a bit lost when trying to get my head round some exhibits and have to conclude that it wasn’t my favourite Late at the V&A. Nevertheless, the night was somewhat intriguing and a good start to the weekend.
